The Isla Caton Fund

The Isla Caton Fund has been created to raise money for pioneering research in memory of beautiful Isla who loved to sing and dance.

Fundraising total£208,448.61

Isla’s story

Isla was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma in 2017 at just two years old. After initially being treated in the UK at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Isla sadly relapsed on frontline treatment - scans showed a tumour in her brain. Although the tumour was successfully removed, while she was undergoing CNS treatment, she relapsed again with spots on her bones.

In 2018 Isla’s family were told her disease had progressed and that she had just three months to live.  The family urgently fundraised for treatment and relocated to Barcelona for two years where Isla underwent a trial of ICE chemotherapy along with antibody treatment. In March 2019, scans showed that Isla was cancer-free.

Heartbreakingly, the disease returned in December 2021 at which point Isla’s parents Nicola and Michael were told that there were no further treatment options. Isla passed away on 25 January 2022.

Princess Isla, forever 7

“Isla was dinosaur mad and the biggest fan of Jurassic World. Her favourite things were the colour pink, Hey Duggee and her favourite cartoon was Bluey, which she found hilarious. Isla loved to sing, she was a huge fan of karaoke just like me and we would sing and dance together all the time.”

Nikki, Isla's mum

Isla’s legacy

Isla’s family has set up this Named Fund with Solving Kids' Cancer UK in honour of Isla and to continue her legacy.

The funds raised through the Isla Caton Fund, together with those transferred to Solving Kids' Cancer UK which had been raised for Isla's access to treatment before she passed away, are being dedicated to funding innovative neuroblastoma research for better and safer treatments for children like Isla, now and in the future. Follow the Isla Caton Fund on social media.

“Isla was not defined by cancer; she was a normal happy little girl who lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed every single moment of it and had the most infectious smile. We have set up this fund to carry on her memory and ensure that her smile never fades.”

Nikki, Isla's mum
