Always remembering
Felix
Affectionally known as a ‘Jedi Knight’ by his family, Felix was the biggest Star Wars fan. He passed away when he was six years old.
Felix’s story
Felix's kindness and love for life captured the hearts of many.
Brave Felix was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma at the Royal Marsden hospital after saying he had a sore back, which progressed to a limp in his left leg.
By the summer of 2011 Matt and Colleen’s beautiful son Felix, then aged six, had been battling neuroblastoma for over two and a half years.
Felix had incredible care, initially at the Royal Marsden, The Royal Alex in Brighton, in Greifswald in Germany and finally at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where the family went to try and save him.
Throughout his fight, Felix never lost his incredible spirit, his love of life, his smile. His life force, along with his identical twin brother, Elliot and big sister, Grace inspired all his family to make the most out of every day given.
But all the many rounds of treatment and surgeries had taken its toll on his immune system, and he just didn’t have any more strength to fight.
Felix passed away on 23rd August 2011 with his mum, dad, sister and brother at his bedside.
Felix's family and friends continue to raise funds to support Solving Kids' Cancer UK so other children are given the lifeline that Felix was – that chance of life and hope. Felix's dad, Matt White has also been a dedicated trustee for Solving Kids' Cancer UK since 2015, helping to ensure that other families have access to the same support that his family did. Solving Kids' Cancer UK feels privileged to work with Matt and is grateful for all his support.

I often pass by the bench in loving memory of Felix, whilst breathing in the fresh air and beautiful vista of the sea. His energy of determination touches me and the journey the family have experienced and will always carry in their hearts.

I found Felix' bench just a few days after the birth of my second son, Felix. It was bitter sweet to read the wonderful words that you wrote about your Felix, who shares the same name and spirit as our Felix. I'm humbled & inspired by your story.
