Alan & Mike's 24 hour walk for Teddy's Campaign

We are fundraising in support of three-year-old Teddy who is fighting neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer.

Fundraising total£4,371.93
Target £4,000.00

Why we are fundraising

"A consultant walked into the room and whispered to the ultrasound tech 'where did you see the mass?' and my heart stopped. The next day he had blood tests and an MRI, and we were told our precious boy had a type of cancer called neuroblastoma and our world shattered. That night I cried so hard I thought my heart would break in two."

This quote from Teddy's mum, Kat, tells you all you need to know about the strain of their ordeal. Teddy's treatment has been brutal for a little boy. He has had a central line fitted, a biopsy, multiple general anaesthetics for bone marrow aspirates and scans, 14 ng tube insertions, 6 gruelling rounds of induction chemotherapy, multiple admissions for fevers, a stem cell harvest, high dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplant. He still has another round of high-dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplant to go, before he is reviewed for potential surgery, then on to 12 sessions of radiotherapy and 6 months of immunotherapy.

And that still might not be enough. This is why we're helping fundraise for him to join a trial in the US later this year. If his frontline treatment is successful, it should keep the cancer away. If it isn't, it could get him into remission. This will cost hundreds of thousands of pounds that his family simply don't have.

So we're taking on the Jurassic Coast Challenge, a continuous 100km trek from Corfe Castle to Bridport that involves walking for over 24 hours, up and down hills and along cliff edges, all day, overnight and into the next day. As men of limited fitness in our 40s, this will grind our joints and burn our muscles. And if that didn't sound hard enough, Mike has to do this with ALAN.

It'll be tough, but not as as tough as what Teddy is going through, so please give as generously as you can. We are very, very grateful for your support.

A donation to Alan and Mike's fundraising page could help Teddy access potentially life-saving treatment, either to get him into remission or to try and keep the cancer away if frontline treatment goes to plan.
