Walking for Jude - 10,000 steps a day in May
I’m fundraising in support of four year old Jude who is fighting neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer.
Why I'm fundraising
Jude and his family deserve the very best of happiness, and to be able to access the treatment he needs to overcome this disease. At 2 years old Jude was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Last year he was almost cleared, but devastatingly poor Jude has relapsed.
Jude's family are now desperately trying to raise money so he can take part in trials in Italy next month that may be his last chance at beating this thing. It’s an eye watering sum of money to participate - £487,000 - but so far they have raised over £277,000.
To support Jude’s fundraising, Rachel and Nikki will walk 10,000 steps a day in May (310,000 in total). This may not sound a lot, but it’s also an effort to become fitter and healthier ourselves, whilst having a very important goal and motivator to do the steps every day!
Meet Jude
Jude is a dinosaur and animal-loving four-year-old who has warmed the hearts of so many with his smile. In July 2021, he was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer that has a 40-50% chance of long-term survival at diagnosis. Jude completed treatment in November 2022, but sadly his cancer returned - he had significant disease on his brain, around his neck and in the whole length of his spine.
