Always remembering

Jaymen

Jaymen was a happy, outgoing and loving little boy. He adored cars, diggers, planes, Paw Patrol and spending time with big sister, Harlow. He passed away when he was 4 years old.

Jaymen’s story

At 22 months old Jaymen started to show flu-like symptoms, which doctors believed was a viral infection. Shortly after, he had stopped walking and was in a lot of pain.

At further investigation, which included scans and lots of tests, the news was broken to Jaymen’s parents that he had stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. Jaymen had a tumour on his spleen, but the disease had also spread to his skull, jaw, arms, legs and chest. His also had a fractured arm due to the disease in the bone.

"Our world came crumbling down. We just couldn’t believe it was happening and all this cancer had taken over so much of his body. We felt completely broken."

Jaymen’s dad, Jordan

Jaymen spent a lot of time in hospital having chemotherapy, stem cell harvest, endless tests and a major operation to remove as much of his tumour as possible.

He had high-dose chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. After over a year of treatment, end-of-treatment scans in 2020 showed Jaymen was no evidence of disease.

Sadly though, further check-up scans showed Jaymen had relapsed.

He passed away on 26th May 2021.
