The Event

With proud berbers as guides and a small caravan of camels carrying supplies, trekking across the varied and stunning landscape of the Sahara Desert will provide you with an unbelievable experience you will never forget.

The itinerary:

  • Day 1: Depart London Heathrow for Marrakech, transfer to Ouarzazate.
  • Day 2: Depart on your journey to the edge of the desert, via a stop for lunch and to buy your traditional scarves in preparation for the days ahead. Once the camels are loaded in the small village of M’Hamid you start your trek through bare fields and palm trees towards your campsite for the night. Approx. 3 hours
  • Day 3: After a hearty breakfast you set off for the first Dunes of Ait Oumir, passing the cliffs of the southern Draa as you trek. After lunch you head on over more sand dunes before you reach your camp shaded by Tamarisk trees. Approx. 6 hours
  • Day 4: The new day sees you keeping to the left side of the Draa as you catch your first sight of L’erg Zaher, the highest dunes in this region. After making the steep climb you celebrate your achievement and the breath-taking views. Approx. 6 hours
  • Day 5: You head north, the sands and sounds of the desert now all very familiar! You cross the riverbed of the Draa and have time to recoup in the shade before continuing onto camp set between the dunes of Sedrar and Smar. Approx. 5 hours
  • Day 6: Today is filled with mirages as far as the eye can see. The contours of the Hamada du Draa become blurred in the heat waves. Leaving behind L’oued El Attach, or the river of thirst, you reach your camp at the dune of Bouguern. Approx. 6 hours
  • Day 7: As you depart for your last day of trekking you head back through the sand dunes and the rocky Hamada desert to the last oasis camp before M’Hamid and your last chance to catch a desert sunset. Approx. 6 hours
  • Day 8: You’re up early to pack up camp and meet the transport for a leisurely drive up the Draa palmerie and onto Ouarzazate. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a celebratory meal to toast your desert achievements
  • Day 9: Transfer to Ouarzazate Airport for flight back to the UK.
