Solving Kids’ Cancer (SKC) Terms and Conditions for the Third Party Event, the Great North Run 2019

  • You’: are the event participant who has registered with and paid Solving Kids’ Cancer to participate in the Great North Run 2019 in aid of Solving Kids’ Cancer.
  • Solving Kids’ Cancer’: is a registered charity in England and Wales (1135601) and Scotland (SCO45094); it is a company limited by guarantee in England and Wales (7208648).
  • ‘Event’: is the Great North Run half marathon 2019. The event is a 13.1 mile road race on 8th September 2019. For all event information visit http://www.greatrun.org/great-north-run
  • You understand that the Great North Run 2019 is a third-party event and not managed or controlled by Solving Kids’ Cancer.
  • You enter the run at your own risk and Solving Kids’ Cancer shall not be liable for any injury or loss which you may suffer or incur as a result of your participation in this event.
  • If you are unsure of your physical ability to take part, you should seek medical advice from a general practitioner prior to the event.
  • You are required to pay a registration fee of £25 to Solving Kids’ Cancer to secure your charity place. If for some reason you are unable to pay your registration fee during the registration process, you must pay Solving Kids’ Cancer no later than two weeks after you have completed your registration form. If you do not pay your registration fee within this time frame, Solving Kids’ Cancer reserves the right to withdraw your charity place.   • You understand that the fee referenced above is non-refundable, non-transferrable to another event and not able to be deferred to another year.
  • Registration for charity places will close on 1st July 2019 or when all places have been filled, whichever occurs first.
  • By registering for a Solving Kids’ Cancer charity place for this event, you agree to raise a minimum of £350 for Solving Kids’ Cancer. This is exclusive of Gift Aid and all monies raised must be paid to Solving Kids’ Cancer no later than 1 month after the event. Money raised through JustGiving will be automatically transferred to the Solving Kids’ Cancer.
  • You must register yourself by 1st July 2019 through a link provided in an email from the organisers. If you fail to register with the organisers by 1st July 2019 you will not be able to take part.
  • Solving Kids’ Cancer may withdraw your place if, at any time, in its absolute discretion, it considers that you are not committed to raising this sponsorship amount.
  • All funds raised for Solving Kids’ Cancer will go towards supporting families affected by neuroblastoma- a high-risk childhood cancer, funding the next generation of innovative research and advocating on behalf of children.
  • Solving Kids’ Cancer is happy to provide advice, ideas and resources to help you meet your fundraising target.   • If you choose to withdraw your place in the event you must contact Solving Kids’ Cancer at your earliest convenience. In the event of this happening, you agree to pay the sum of £25 to Solving Kids’ Cancer to contribute to the cost of your place. You must return to sponsors all sponsorship monies given to you on the condition that you complete the event, unless the relevant sponsor agrees that such monies may still be donated to Solving Kids’ Cancer. If you have raised money through JustGiving, you must contact JustGiving directly to discuss next steps.
  • Money raised for Solving Kids’ Cancer should be paid directly to Solving Kids’ Cancer by cheque, over the telephone, at a NatWest bank or through an online transfer.
  • Cheques should be made payable to ‘Solving Kids’ Cancer’ and sent to ‘Solving Kids’ Cancer CAN Mezzanine, 49-51 East Road, N1 6AH’. Please include a reference to the ‘Great North Run 2019’ on the back of the cheque.
  • To pay money in to our account please get in touch to request our bank details and a ‘Tell us about your fundraising form;’ this should be submitted when you make your payment to ensure Solving Kids’ Cancer has all the relevant information to attribute your payment to your fundraising target.
  • By taking part in this event for Solving Kids’ Cancer, you confirm that you are happy for any footage or photographs taken of you during your participation in this event to be used to publicise Solving Kids’ Cancer’s work and promote participation in further events.
  • By fundraising for Solving Kids’ Cancer you agree to submit all used paper sponsorship forms at the end of your fundraising to Solving Kids’ Cancer UK and not to bring Solving Kids’ Cancer’s name into disrepute.
  • Solving Kids’ Cancer will use the information you have provided for the administration purposes of this event and to update you about our work. Should you not want Solving Kids’ Cancer to communicate with you for reasons beyond the administration of this event, please contact Emma on Emma.Kreeger@solvingkidscancer.org.uk.

We would like to keep in touch with you about our work so that you know the value of your support. We will tell you how we are supporting families, furthering vital research and giving a voice to children. We will let you know about different fundraising events and initiatives as well as our children’s campaigns for access to treatment.
